City & Guilds
Founded in 1878, City & Guilds has become a global leader in skills development and helping people achieve their goals. City & Guilds is an accolade many tradespeople hold close to their hearts, spending many years training and achieving industry-recognised qualifications.
The NVQ is a very popular route for many tradespersons starting out, and the apprenticeship schemes evidence skills through academic and practical assessments while learning on the job. The NVQ routes can often be said to develop some of the best tradespersons.
Although not all City & Guilds qualifications mean your tradesperson has completed an NVQ. City & Guilds also offer standalone qualifications and modules that allow people to develop and evidence their skills and knowledge in a particular area.
City & Guilds has more than 500 different qualification options across 28 industries which cover most of the trades listed on Mytradefinder, these include:
· Plumbing and heating engineers
· Electricians, and trades undertaking electrical works
· Construction trades such as builders

Having an industry recognised qualification shows your tradesperson has a knowledge and understanding of their industry. When asked, 90% of the public recognise being City & Guilds-qualified as a positive when looking for a tradesperson to complete works in their home.
Mytradefinder encourages all its traders to become qualified with industry recognised qualifications, gaining recognised accomplishments evidences competency and this helps raise standards, improve customer service and promotes best practice.
